About Ironton

Ironton, Michigan is possibly most widely known for the Ironton Ferry, a 4-car cable ferry that crosses a narrow point on the south arm of Lake Charlevoix in Nothern Michigan. A prior captain of the Ferry is listed in "Ripley's Believe it or Not" for having traveled 15,000 miles while never being more than a 1/4 mile from his home.

Here are some pictures of the original grocery store. The gentleman in both pictures is Burl Walker, he owned the store. The original store was called Walker & Thomson Grocery.
