Our Family Picture

First of all, we'd like to thank you for checking out our website.... it's something Matt has wanted to do since we opened our store 3 years ago. We finally had the time to work with a friend of ours to get this up and running.

Matt and I (Lisa) are the 3rd generation "grocery store" owners. It all started with my grandparents store in Elk Rapids (Ed's Market) then my parents bought from them (Ed & Son Market) and I and my 2 sisters literally grew up in the business surrounded by family, aunts, cousins etc. I really enjoy watching our boys grow up doing the same things I did...chasing their dad around the store, gettting rides on the dolly cart.

We are the third generation to run a local store

Matt and I actually met on the east coast, he's from New Hampshire and I was attending the University of Maine in Orono, Maine (near Bangor). After I graduated we both resided in Concord, NH and both worked corporate sales jobs. After a couple years Matt was offered a job transfer to Michigan (home for me) so we made the move to southern MI...just outside of Detroit. Neither of us liked living in the city...and neither of us loved our jobs.

The 4th generation growing up fast.

My parents were 3 years into their "new" store (Torch Lake Market) when they asked us if we wanted to start a pizza business out of part of the store. We literally quit our jobs the next day and spent a month finding our pizza receipe. We spent time with a friend of Matt's back in NH learning the "art" of pizza. After 2 years with my parents we decided to open our own store in Ironton.

SO, here we are, 3 years into our business, we've got 2 little boys and we're loving Northern Michigan!
